On Friday 23rd February we invited tap dancer and choreographer Lauren Gore to visit Jaykays students and deliver two tap workshops.
After training at Bird College in London and becoming 3rd in the world female tap champion, Lauren went on to become Dance Captain and Assistant Choreographer in the hit musical Thriller! As well as a vast tap dancing career and founding the awesome all female tap group “Bellabeats” Lauren has appeared amongst many famous faces on television shows such as The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Got to Dance, where she partnered Adam Garcia. Recently she appeared in STOMP! she also has a successful beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog.
Lauren came into the studio with so much enthusiasm. She made all of the students feel welcome and at ease and got started straight away choreographing some fantastic tap routines for both groups. Lauren achieved so much in just an hour and the students worked really hard, I don’t think they stopped for even just one minute!
The worksop was extremely inspiring for the students and I think they could have easily continued for a further hour. It was great to see so many of the JKDC tapping away and it was a perfect end to the half term break.
