Due to popular demand, we are expanding our timetable. Starting from September, we’ve added the following classes to the Jaykays timetable.
Entry Level Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Modern – Something that really saddens me is when children aged 10+ think they are now too old to start to learn Ballet, Tap & Contemporary Modern. Yes, by the age of 10 students have progressed and a beginner could not jump into this class, but that does not mean that ship has sailed! We have successfully offered entry-level classes previously where students have eventually been able to progress quickly and merge into our existing combination classes. We are really pleased to be able to offer this once again for secondary age school students from year 7-10.
JK Boys – Since recruiting Connor we have been really keen to develop a boy’s programme. The boys programme will offer a variety of dance styles including modern and contemporary, with physical and dynamic movement to music.
Additional Contemporary Dance Classes – The popularity of Contemporary has boomed as a genre in general and within Jaykays, especially since Connor’s lockdown number in the show. We have therefore decided to split the Contemporary class into 3 separate classes according to our age banding: Pre-Inter, Inter and Senior.
PBT & Pointe – As the new year 11’s work towards their G4 ballet exam and the new year 10s work towards their G3 ballet exam, they will begin to work on a pre-pointe class to strengthen their feet and ankles ready for pointe shoes. Together with PBT exercises, it really helps to develop the ballet technique that is required for studying at these higher levels.
Primary Musical Theatre – So many of you have been asking for a younger MT class and we finally have found timetable space for it! Miss Liz will be leading this class suitable for year 2-4’s.
New venue – Musical Theatre will now be running from Campion School on a Tuesday evening. The school has just begun hiring their facilities again and we’re looking forward to using their assembly hall with a stage for our MT classes.
